Welcome and Thank You for visiting with us.  Granite Falls is located in southern Caldwell County North Carolina, just north of Hickory, on U. S. Highway 321.  Its history dates back before the Revolutionary War.  Its origins can be traced to land grants dating back to 1754.  Granite Falls was incorporated on May 1, 1899 and was named after the Falls on Gunpowder Creek, where a solid formation of granite spans the creek.

Named for the falls and giant granite boulders on Gunpowder Creek, the town began as an industrial town and is headquarters today to one of the nations most heralded small banks, The Bank of Granite. The bank has been featured in Forbes, U.S. Banker, and the CBS Evening News. Famed investor Warren Buffet has said The Bank of Granite is “the best-run bank in the United States.”

Granite Falls is also home to the world’s largest collection of soda pop memorabilia housed in Antique Vending Company’s showroom, and the town is home to the second oldest home in Caldwell County, which the town has converted into the Granite Falls History and Transportation Museum. Visitors to downtown Granite Falls will find a large slab of granite rock and town clock flanked by locally-owned shops and unique architecture.
 

Granite Falls is the hometown of Country Music Star Eric Church.  San Francisco Giants pitcher, Madison Bumgarner, attended South Caldwell High School in nearby Hudson, North Carolina.

The Town of Granite Falls operates the William B Shuford Recreation Center, which provides a variety of fitness and youth activities.

Lubrimetal News Update

   Lubrimetal Corporation, an Italian based manufacturer of lubricants used in the wire drawing industry, is locating its first U.S. manufacturing facility at the former Mid-Atlantic Steel & Wire Company building at 2889 Countryside Drive.  Initially we reported that Lubrimetal would be located at the old Timber Ridge Lumber Company which is located on 321A South next to the new water tank.  The original plan was for Lubrimetal to locate its facility at the former Mid-Atlantic Steel & Wire Company building at 2889 Countryside Drive, then after negotiations stalled, the old Timber Ridge Lumber Company property was brought into the fold as a possible alternative location.  After a lot of work by Lubrimetal, property owners and the Town of Granite Falls this process came full circle back to the former Mid-Atlantic Steel & Wire Company property.
